Introduce yourself!

Greetings! I'm Cecile, a Belgian who has called Dubai home for the past two decades. Initially trained as a lawyer specializing in labor law, my journey led me to Dubai. Though my transition initially presented challenges in securing legal positions, I embraced diverse roles until I discovered my passion for human resources—a field linked with my legal expertise. Since 2011, I've thrived as an HR professional, leveraging my background to navigate the dynamic landscape of workforce management. Beyond my professional pursuits, my heart belongs to my two boys, who bring me joy. When not immersed in work or family, you'll likely find me indulging my passions for travel and yoga, finding balance and serenity amidst life's adventures.

What inspired you to create TheJoyfulMe, and what is the core mission or purpose behind your business?

Throughout my career, I have always been passionate about job satisfaction, employee engagement and coaching. After earning my coaching certification from ICF, I eagerly embarked on my journey as a life coach. However, despite my passion for guiding others, I found myself yearning for a deeper sense of purpose—a niche that resonated more profoundly with my own experiences and aspirations.

The turning point came during a tumultuous period in 2021 when life dealt me a series of devastating blows. In less than a year, I lost my dad, my soulmate and my dog. I thought it was the end of everything. Amidst this whirlwind of loss, I handled my own health challenges, struggling with an autoimmune condition that sapped my energy and left me feeling utterly depleted, both physically and emotionally.

I felt as though I had lost all sense of happiness and purpose. I then embarked on a journey of self-discovery and healing, enrolling in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) with the hope of reclaiming my health and vitality. Little did I know that this decision would lead me to a profound realization that would reshape the trajectory of my life.

One of the lectures on positive psychology struck me, and I experienced a profound “a-ha” moment. It became clear to me that my true calling lay in helping others cultivate happiness and fulfilment in their own lives. Through study, introspection, and the application of coaching principles to my own journey, I gradually rediscovered the spark of joy within myself. And thus, the idea of the JoyfulMe came to existence.
