1. Invite Resistance

Know that resistance to change means something valuable is about to transpire. Resisting change is part of being human, and it’s a beautiful tool meant to grow you, not crush you. Use its energy. If you didn’t feel the desire to resist change, you wouldn’t be able to celebrate that growth is about to happen. – Chris Janssen, Results Coach

2. Cast Your Vision

I find that when individuals are struggling with motivation, it's because they lack clarity on their vision. We can catch a spark of inspiration from others, but motivation comes from within. Write (or re-write) your 12-month vision in the present tense. Where will you be one year from now? Let your pen flow, even if you're not sure how that vision will come to fruition. Let that vision be your daily reminder and you will consistently tap into your new found motivation. – Kim Ward, Life & Business Coach

3. Make It Easy And Fun

I often find that I am motivated to finish projects and achieve goals by looking for ways to make things easier and more fun. What would motivate you to take another step or accomplish another task? What would make working toward your goals fun for you? Can you call a friend, find someone to assist you or plan a relaxing and rewarding incentive after you accomplish another step?” – Dr. Adriana Popescu, Clinical Psychologist and Empowerment Coach

4. Ground Yourself In Worthiness

Track the progress you are making and enjoy the journey itself to achieving your goals by celebrating small achievements along the way. Review what you have accomplished, discuss what is important, what is urgent, and what you want to accomplish next. At the beginning of each day, ask yourself these 3 questions:

  1. What did you accomplish yesterday?

  2. What is the most important thing to get done today?

  3. If you cannot do it alone, who could help? Have confidence in your commitment and believe that the effort you put into setting healthy routines is worth it.

As Tracy Eliss Ross stated, “I am learning every day to allow the space where I am and where I want to be to inspire me and not terrify me.” – Adelina Stefan, Intercultural Career Transition & Leadership Coach

5. Prioritizing Time For Self-care

When we lose motivation to achieve our goals, we often lose sight of ourselves in the process. Imposter syndrome and negative self-talk can easily creep in, causing us to stop in our tracks on our path to achievement. I recommend prioritizing time for self-care each week. We often present our best work when we are rejuvenated and allow ourselves space to think clearly. Self-care will allow you to step away from work and come return with a new perspective. – Dr. Leslie Davis, Counselor & Coach
