1. Changing your mindset 5 minutes a day

One of the simplest ways to change your mindset is by implementing affirmations. You can work on that in just 5 minutes a day. Using an app like "I am" or writing out your own. It’s critical to establish a consistent daily practice for success.

2. Quieting your mind and focusing on task at hand

This is one of the habits I use that helped me achieve powerful results. First, spend time on your favorite breathing or meditation technique. Then time 60 or 90 minutes on your timer and focus on the most important task of the day.

3. Putting yourself first

There is a reason that we are told on airplanes to put on our own oxygen masks before helping others…the reality is you can’t take care of or lead others to greater if you don’t take care of yourself. What if putting you first and caring for you is actually one of the kindest, most powerful things you can do to change your life? It all begins with the question of: "What caring would be for me in this situation?"

4. Having one powerful "afformation"

Each morning when you wake up, start out by asking yourself a powerful afformation. An afformation is a question that can only have a positive response and outcome. This habit will trigger your brain to find the answer, causing you to think and act in ways that support the desired answer. Over time, you will change your life!

5. Taking a moment to breathe slowly and deeply

It might seem that life is swirling around you and that you have no control over everything that is happening. At least once in each hour, take a moment to stop, breathe slowly and deeply, listen to your inner wisdom, and smile. Be thankful for being here, and then give that smile and love to the next person you meet. Don’t allow the outer rush and bustle and your noisy mind to dull your ability to transform your life each day. In creating this habit, you also transform the lives of those around you.

6. Connecting with the heart, mind, & body

Developing a morning routine that connects with the heart, mind, and body is a great way to start the day and a powerful habit that can change your life. My morning routine starts with breathing into my heart to connect with the Divine Source within and outside of us. I identify 3 things that I appreciate or am grateful for. Then I practice Transcendental Meditation for mindful relaxation. This activates alpha brainwaves that bring me to a whole brain state and helps me with calmness, increased creativity, and other benefits that support me throughout the day. Then I will do Chi Kung or another form of yoga to wake up my body. This morning routine sticks because it's the first thing I do when I get up, and it's a powerful habit that has reduced my stress levels, enabled more creativity and productivity, and boosts my immune system.

7. Looking for a positive aspect in every situation

Learn to see everything that comes your way as an opportunity to grow, to become a better version of yourself. Get into the habit of looking for a positive aspect in every situation. Rather than becoming upset, angry or defensive, choose to take responsibility, choose to co-create your reality. This takes a bit of time, and requires focus and commitment, as our minds can be easily overwhelmed by the ambient negativity. Pay close attention to how you react to news, comments or situations. Don’t judge yourself; simply remember to ask: how can I use this positively? Soon, it should happen naturally. This is the single, most empowering habit you could ever develop. It will profoundly transform your life and will inspire those around you too. In essence, you choose to believe that life is on your side. You choose trust over fear. You reach a state of acceptance and serenity that in turn gives you the strength and courage to always find the right solutions and to be the best you can be.
