Different emotional states can often have an immune-suppressive effect on your immune system. Stressful life experiences such as divorce, the death of a loved one, or other emotional trauma can suppress or enhance your immune responses. The human body is a complex and fascinating system with much left to be discovered. Recent advancements in the field of psychoneuroimmunology have opened new possibilities for understanding how our emotions can influence our overall health and well-being. Using practices such as Psychokinesiology, we now have effective tools to help alleviate stress and promote physical healing. Based on personal experience, I can attest to the power of Psychokinesiology in releasing emotional blockages and achieving a healthier, more balanced life.

What is Psychoneuroimmunology about?

Psychoneuroimmunology researches the connection between emotions and the human immune system with the result that body, mind, and soul should not be considered separately. Emotions can influence our immune system and can also lead to illness in the long term if the stress becomes chronic, as in the case of depression or prolonged sleep problems. Acute stress, on the other hand, can usually be absorbed and regulated well by the body. Emotional stress is just as stressful as physical stress. If you must suppress your feelings to function at work, have constant arguments with your partner, or are socially isolated, high blood pressure, obesity, difficulty in wound healing, and other health imbalances can develop, as stress hormones are constantly being released.

Important pathways in the body

Psychoneuroimmunology looks at the interactions between the autonomic nervous and neuroendocrine systems. The neuroendocrine system enables communication between the brain and the immune system through receptors on the surface of lymphocytes and other immune cells. The neuroendocrine system consists of all the cells and organs that process and secrete different hormones. This system comprises the hypothalamus-hypophysis system, epiphyses, c-cells of your thyroid, parathyroid gland, pancreatic islets, and other significant neuroendocrine cells throughout your body.

The autonomic nervous system regulates many bodily functions unconsciously. It consists of the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems, which regulate each other during stress responses. Some main body functions such as the heartbeat, breathing, and digestion are performed by the parasympathetic nervous system, particularly during sleep. The sympathetic system carries out tasks in cases of fear and panic, known as the "Fight or Flight" response, and activates the immune system.

Constant stress and its deregulatory effects

When you have constant stress, your sympathetic activates important immune cells such as macrophages, glial cells, and astrocytes in the brain, which increases the cytokines in your body. Cytokines are inflammatory messengers important for the communication of your immune cells such as leukocytes, to fight pathogens and tumor cells.

Also, oxidative and nitrosative stress are arousing and can damage your body including its cells and even your innermost important body database, your DNA.

This means that when you have stress due to different emotional states, your body produces other body chemicals to deal with the stress and protect your body. If the stress is constant, your parasympathetic system suffers, and your body goes into an imbalanced state and, in the long term, into exhaustion. Even genetic changes and autoimmune diseases can occur. Thus, it is necessary to de-stress your system regularly and bring your body back into balance.

How Psychokinesiology can help

Psychokinesiology is a highly effective biofeedback method for questioning your subconscious mind for emotional and mental blockages to release them from the energetic body for good. After release, the body goes into regeneration and detoxification. The person can feel lighter, has more energy, feels more freedom and neutrality towards certain people and situations, and does not feel triggered anymore by them. Moreover, to my opinion, it is one of the most effective approaches to healing traumatic and stressful events. With this, your immune system is strengthened, and your psychoimmunology axis is regulated back into its original state and kept in balance. Thus, it is important to recognize that emotions and health are closely linked and that a conscious approach to emotions and stress can have a positive effect on your immunity and overall health.

Further powerful approaches

Moreover, I recommend further very powerful approaches to destress the body:

  1. Daily Meditations

  2. Energetic work to release mental blockages and limiting beliefs from your system

  3. Healthy food to have enough energy throughout the day and to keep your sugar balance in a normal range

  4. Nutritional supplements and herbs support body chemical production and with this your adrenals and nervous system

  5. Use high-quality probiotics to keep the right balance of healthy gut bacteria, because emotions and thoughts influence your digestion and your gut microbiome

  6. To say “no” to people and situations who are stressing you out
