In order to get to a destination, you obviously need to know where you are going. However, the journey to said destination will no doubt feel much longer if you look at the odometer at every mile, checking how far you’ve travelled.

If you lean back and trust the ride, enjoy the scenery, you’ll benefit in 2 ways.

  1. You’ll notice all the gorgeous and interesting sites along the way. (You may even stumble across a lovely detour!)

  2. Your journey will seem quicker and more easeful.

Yes, you’ve got it. I am using this road trip analogy for our journey through life… to our desired outcomes, visions or goals.

There needs to be a balance of two energies in your life, to support you in creating more ease. A balance between the doing and the receiving. The yin and yang, the masculine and feminine.

The aligned action is a big part of the energy that supports you in creating your outcomes, this can include gaining clarity on your goals, dreams and desires. It also includes taking the steps required to get you there. Think of this as the “structure” in your life. This can also be referred to as yang or masculine energy. This is very important energy that we need to harness and exercise in order to create we must DO the thing. There’s no doubt about it that doing is powerful and required.

However, we have been heavily conditioned that struggle, the grind and pure force is the way to success.

Doing for doing sake. Busyness for busyness' sake. We reward for the doing, too much so in my opinion.

Is it important? Absolutely. Is it over-rewarded and often done from an unaligned place? Absolutely.

There’s another integral piece that is required.

The other part of the puzzle that is perhaps the most important is the Self-Trust. To trust yourself enough to lean back and receive. The ability to feel and know that you are supported. To lean into your personal power, and trust that you (and the Universe!) are leading yourself towards your desires in each and every moment. You don’t need to pull the car over every mile and check-in to see if you’ve travelled far, or if you are going in the right direction. When you trust that you’ve done the right prep work, and are present enough to notice what is happening in each and every moment, you are able to lean into deeper levels of receiving.

When you are able to activate and connect to this yin or feminine energy, in conjunction with the masculine, magic happens. I promise you.

As a recovered do-er, I used to pride myself on how much I can take on, how many things I can achieve to get me where I want to go. But through working with coaches and doing my inner work, I realized that I wasn’t actually TRUSTING myself along the way. I was forcing. Which made the journey harder. And it added a whole lot of unnecessary work.

When we don’t feel supported or trusting of ourselves, we over compensate with action.

It’s a wasted energy.

Get clear on what it is you want. Get going and take the aligned steps towards it. And then, trust yourself enough to know that you’ve pointed yourself in the right direction. Be ok if it changes along the way. And how are you able to gain clarity that your desires have shifted? By being present, by being open to the journey, by trusting yourself and opening yourself up to the inner wisdom that wants to drop in whilst you are taking inspired action.

It’s a dance between the doing and then trusting yourself enough to lean back and experience the ride. Pay attention to what feels good and what doesn’t. And trust yourself to pivot when needed.

“Enjoy the ride” doesn’t mean “try to have fun whilst forcing your way to your destination”.

I believe it means, allow yourself to receive. Create ease in your life whilst you are taking aligned and inspired action towards your goals.

Trust yourself enough to be able to relax and enjoy the journey.

Self Trust is a muscle we must exercise. I know it doesn’t feel easy in the beginning. Learning to listen to our inner wisdom, our intuition can feel extremely scary. Often we are so disconnected from it, we don’t even know where to start. But I’m here to tell you it is possible. I love nothing more than supporting clients in moving in to deeper levels of contact with their inner wisdom; their intuition. Their own personal GPS in life.

It’s always guiding you on the most aligned road for you you just have to be brave enough to listen.
