Do you usually feel like your business and personal life should be directed by logic and facts? As human beings, we often try to understand why things happen so we can make more informed and logical decisions. However, intuition can play a big role in improving your decision-making process. Let’s look at some ways that you can use intuition to make better decisions.

1. Know Yourself To develop your intuition better, you should get to know yourself. What are you trying to achieve in life? What do you stand for? What are your core values? And what are your missions and visions? Without answering these questions, you can’t understand the main priorities in your business and personal life. If you’ve ever felt confused because of other people’s decisions or suggestions, it is possible that you haven’t known yourself sufficiently. Getting to know yourself will also help you achieve happiness as you will be able to set plans and make quicker decisions that improve your life. You will consider yourself an individual and will not compromise your beliefs or blindly follow the crowd. 2. Get in Touch with Your Inner Critic We all have an inner critic – the part of the brain that tells us how we should live and how the world should be. The inner critic is often considered to be a negative mental process as it generally never gets satisfied. It seems to pr ey on your most vulnerable insecurities and forecasts negative outcomes of your decisions. While it can feel like the enemy, your inner critic is central to all the decisions you make in life. It is involved whenever you choose to change certain aspects of your lifestyle and will generally steer you towards achieving your goals.

3. Don’t Seek External Advice When Confused When we get stuck, we often feel the need to consult other people for advice. If you are trying to learn how to use your intuition for better business success, you need to let go of external advice and instead look inward. You usually have all the answers in your head and are likely just shutting out your inner voice. 4. Tune Into Your Body To tune into your body, you will have to lie down in Savasana, a resting pose that brings complete stillness to the mind and body. Savasana is usually used as the final resting pose at the end of yoga practices. You can use calming breathing techniques to relax while in this position. Then try and make a decision and see how your body reacts. You can then try to make an opposing or different decision and feel how your body reacts. Is it tense with any of the options? Do you feel heavier or lighter with any of the choices? 5. Let go of the Pressure to Make the Right Choices We often feel like we need to make the best decision or things will start collapsing all around us. We’re afraid of having regrets in the future and want to control all possible outcomes. However, this can prevent us from taking action with decisions that we arrived at through intuition. By controlling the need to make the right choices, you will also be able to save time and make better use of resources. 6. Practice Awareness You should try to notice decisions you make through intuition and the signs you paid attention to before taking action. It is also important to be aware of decisions you made against your intuition, and see how the decision felt. Being aware of these details will help you learn how to use your instincts when making business choices.

Further Tips to Develop Your Intuition

  • Take a chance following your instincts - You can start with low-stakes decisions like choosing a route to drive to work and observe any difference it makes.

  • Try to limit your daily distractions - You’ll find it hard to follow your intuition if your energy is always scattered. You can make your working space more silent and set aside periods when you don’t use screens at all.

  • Spend time in nature - Being mindful of the beauty of nature can help to clear out distracting thoughts. This will make it easier for you to get in touch with your intuition.

  • Journal - Writing is a great way to release ideas to the conscious mind. You should document things that seem like interesting coincidences or signs and see if you can observe any patterns.
