Emotions are there to tell us something! Never ignore them otherwise you may miss a profound outcome. I want to share a story with you that I hope you will relate to. From a young age, I have always been intuitive and had what I felt as an instinct to trust my gut, it somehow guided me down paths that had it not been for the gut instinct I would not have grown emotionally. As a young child, I was inquisitive and questioned a lot, to the point that adults could not answer many of them, and because of this the conversation would be shut down, I desired to know more and always felt connected to all life.

Spiritual Healer Expressing Honesty with her Hands

On reflection, could it have been that my passion for understanding why things are the way they are on a sub-conscious level scared some adults because perhaps, I was mirroring to them a life lesson they needed to learn to enable them to grow, so, they had a choice, either help me discover the answers and grow themselves or shut the conversation down and stay as they were. It’s certainly a plausible theory, is it not?

Benefits of acceptance guidance

Inner peace

Acceptance allows you to find peace within yourself by acknowledging and embracing reality as it is, rather than resisting or fighting against it.

Emotional resilience

When you accept circumstances or events beyond your control, you build emotional resilience, enabling you to bounce back from setbacks and challenges more effectively.

Reduced stress

Acceptance reduces stress by freeing you from the burden of trying to change or control things that are out of your hands. It helps you focus your energy on what you can influence.

Improved relationships

Accepting others for who they are fosters healthier and more authentic relationships, based on understanding and respect rather than judgment or expectation.

Personal growth

Embracing acceptance opens the door to personal growth and development as you learn from experiences, adapt to change, and cultivate a mindset of continuous learning.

Increased happiness

Acceptance leads to greater happiness by allowing you to find contentment and gratitude for what you have in the present moment, rather than longing for what you lack.

Enhanced problem-solving

Accepting the reality of a situation enables you to approach problems with clarity and objectivity, leading to more effective problem-solving strategies.

Self-compassion

Acceptance involves showing compassion towards yourself, acknowledging your flaws and imperfections without harsh judgment, and treating yourself with kindness and understanding.

Freedom from attachment

Acceptance helps you let go of attachment to specific outcomes or expectations, freeing you to embrace uncertainty and flow with life's natural ebb and flow.

Spiritual growth

Many spiritual traditions emphasise the power of acceptance as a path to inner peace, enlightenment, and spiritual fulfillment, connecting you with a deeper sense of purpose and meaning in life.

Something deep inside told me to stay true to myself and my ability to question life’s wonders. I’m grateful, that my curiosity has stayed with me throughout my life. However, like many, there have been times when the true inner voice was hard to hear, and so was acceptance. My first clear memory was from a period when I lost my way after my best friend Julie was tragically killed in a car accident. I was around 14, I felt disconnected for a long period, my curiosity to understand life was no longer there, and I was in ‘self-sabotage mode’ I felt confused and lost, the love for life had gone, I was numb, and could no longer identify my feelings because now I had to make sense of death, loss and how cruel it can be. I felt like I was drifting through life, the reason I tell you this story is because most of us have been there, those dark moments through life where it no longer feels right emotionally and we feel lost, and the inability to accept becomes harder. It’s in these moments that we can make a choice, to either accept what is and grow or not, this is what happened to me.

Experiencing this loss at such a young age made me ask more questions. I made a vow to use this curiosity and make sense of life to find my purpose, starting with me accepting that most of the time we are powerless and have no control over what happens outside of us but we do have a choice in how we allow it to affect us on the inside.

After years of internal conflict, I consciously decided to make the most of life, always having an internal dialogue, and accepting that life is a rollercoaster. Acceptance has to be one of the best gifts we can give ourselves. I believe the need to understand my

life's purpose enabled me to pull myself out of what felt like a ‘dark night of the soul’ and stay connected to my true calling. It was as if something was ‘guiding’ me back to who I truly am, some call this source, the soul, dharma, others God, universe, when I did finally emerge out of the ashes like a phoenix, I felt stronger, wiser, and focused on pursuing my life’s purpose. I could connect better, my gut instinct spoke louder, life was clearer than before and I was back on course.

The key to continuous growth and satisfaction lies in our ability to adapt to life's challenges with curiosity. This means staying open-minded, seeking knowledge, and embracing new opportunities. Curiosity sparks creativity, deepens our connections with others, and promotes personal development. By constantly questioning, exploring, and stepping outside of our comfort zones, we can experience a more fulfilling life full of learning and meaningful interactions.

I am fortunate to be able to combine my form of mind-artistry hypnosis to help my clients maintain their curiosity. We work together from the inside out addressing where their blockages are when it comes to acceptance of self. The beautiful transformation that comes after this, is life-changing. If you feel it is time to move into the acceptance phase of your life, to unlock your true power, then please get in touch with me here, I would love to work with you on your journey.

I want to finish with a wonderful prayer that comes to mind when I am faced with a difficult decision and the outcome is unknown where acceptance is required. It is the serenity prayer, you may already know it. ‘God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.’
