1. Leverage the power of podcasting

Podcasts are versatile, enlightening and effective. Podcasts should be part of your marketing mix. It is a very effective way to promote your business. Podcasts are engaging; your audience just has to play and listen. Brands don't have to keep trying to reach a target audience. The subscribers will automatically get the latest episodes downloaded on their devices. Podcasts are a low barrier to entry, drive traffic on websites and boost SEO strategy, create more brand visibility & allow the consumer to be more influenced by what they hear. In a survey of 3,000 podcast listeners, 63% confirmed that they bought the product, which was promoted by a show host. 71% affirmed that they visited the sponsors' website after listening to it on the show. You can publish the episode transcripts on your written blogs so that it can direct people to your website.

2. Learn digital marketing structure one at a time

Content creation, Facebook and Instagram ads, Email marketing, Google ads, SEO, blog writing, SMS marketing, Tik Tok, Linkedin, Pinterest, web design, affiliate marketing, and the list goes on and on. There are so many facets of digital marketing that if you try to learn them all at once, you will run into serious information overload. I recommend choosing one area of digital marketing that you have a need for or are interested to learn and choose one reputable source to learn it from. There are many different methods and strategies to be successful in each area of digital marketing, so pick a source you trust to learn from and stick with it. If you try to learn from many different sources at one time, you will be overwhelmed and unsure of which route to follow. Once you have started to put your learnings into action, you can start testing different things and branching out from there.

3. Take action on trends

The best way to grow your digital marketing skills is to stay up-to-date with the latest changes in the industry and to continue learning new techniques. You can do this by reading blogs, attending webinars, and subscribing to newsletters. Additionally, you can also participate in online forums and social media groups and attend marketing events in your area. Finally, you can also take online or offline courses to develop your skills further.

4. Discover your joy

I find in working with highly successful and creative people that if you would like to grow a skillset or develop a new ability, it is best to follow what is truly joyful for you. What do you actually enjoy? What is easy and fun for you? We all know those things that we enjoy so much we can get lost in them for hours; use that, follow it and let it lead you to new possibilities, projects and revenue streams. If there’s something you don’t like doing (e.g., social media), then hire someone else who does love it to do it for you.

5. Stay ahead of the game

The digital marketing landscape is constantly evolving, and if you're looking to stay ahead of the curve, it's important to continually develop your skills. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to grow your digital marketing abilities. First and foremost, reading industry-specific publications is a great way to keep up with the latest trends and learn new tactics. This could include content from traditional print magazines or online blogs written by respected professionals in the field. Additionally, attending conferences or workshops is another excellent way to connect with experts who can provide valuable insight into cutting-edge techniques that will help you get ahead. These events also offer networking opportunities that can put you in touch with potential clients and even peers who may be able to give you advice on how to better position yourself within the industry.

6. Build strong relationships in a digital world

With rapidly changing and advancing technology, the world is becoming increasingly digital. The first step is to show up. Unless you shared what service you provide, how you can help, and how you can add value, no one will know. It is important to be authentic. Secondly, it's important to be consistent. Thirdly, it is important to have clarity in the message with a clear call to action. Fourthly, develop and nurture your tribe! The world is turning digital but our relationships aren't! Humans still love connection whether its digital or live!

7. Focus on skill-building

There are tons of places to learn digital marketing skills online, but I would suggest starting with Hubspot and Neil Patel. Both of these industry titans share a ton of valuable content ranging from Content Marketing to SEO to growing your social media to sales. I would also suggest focusing on one core digital marketing skill (i.e. SEO) at a time and then adding in another once you feel confident in what you have learned! Be sure to track your analytics so you can see what is working!
