Our relationships often reflect our current state, causing some to attribute blame and shame to their ex-partners when, in truth, the core issue resides within themselves. If we continuously brand someone as toxic, it might indicate a need for self-reflection and introspection.

In this article, I will share how taking full responsibility for ourselves and how we are showing up in our relationships could be truly magical for our whole health.

Being in a toxic relationship impacts us in every way – emotionally, spiritually, and physically

Even if a relationship doesn't fit the textbook definition of abuse, if it's toxic, it could be harming our health more than we realize. If you notice a pattern of toxic relationships that are negatively impacting your health, taking action is crucial, and the path you choose from this point forward will define this individual's role.

What if your toxic partner is also open to self-improvement

During challenging times when everything appears bleak and quitting seems inevitable, having a supportive individual committed to self-growth and accountability is vital, as highlighted in Dr. Margaret Paul's writings.

Dr. Margaret Paul proposes that when one person in a relationship adopts self-responsibility with the Inner Bonding concept, there is potential for the relationship to improve. As the other individual also starts to examine their actions, both partners assume responsibility for their behaviour. This change helps avoid mirroring toxic characteristics and lessens the reliance on transactional love, promoting authentic spiritual, emotional, and physical development for everyone.

However, this scenario doesn't always unfold as expected. In some cases, only one partner begins to shoulder responsibilities, leading to a shift from a toxic relationship to a realization that the individual unwilling to take responsibility for their actions is projecting onto their partner. In such situations, the best course of action is to simply walk away. Since we are solely accountable for ourselves, this decision rests solely on our shoulders.

If we are taking responsibility for ourselves, we do not stay with toxic people

It can be tough to accept, but when we genuinely care for ourselves and take full responsibility for our overall health and wellness, we won't remain in a situation that is causing us harm.

It is crucial to distinguish between toxic behaviour and abuse. If the relationship is abusive, it may be necessary to seek safety measures and support before taking the step to leave.

Now, brace yourselves because the chances of this person being the chosen one have just skyrocketed times three

The perfect partner we imagine from fairy tales may not match reality. The right person for us could act as a mirror, steering us clear of harmful relationships in the future. This helps us prioritize our overall well-being for a happily ever after.
