Journaling is a much talked about tool when it comes to self-care practices. It is cheap, easy and can be done anywhere. In fact this is probably the most underrated tool and effective practice when it comes to healing. It is great if you can afford a coach or therapist but even these services have their limit as it is important to be able to self-regulate daily, journaling is great for this.

A book of journal lying on white table

There are many ways in which you can write in your journal, there is no right or wrong way. This is the way I like to journal which is why I created the School of Change Journal. It provides you with what you need when you need it as well as reminding you to focus on your tasks for that day and how to remain focused. We can get distracted by the day-to-day and scatter our energy in different areas making us less effective so the idea is to be able to create more and progress in the areas you want rather than moving in a way that is not conducive to you.

First, before we get started on the list, I want to emphasize how important energy is, and the point of this journal is to be able to channel your energy effectively without blocking it in the most creative way possible. Here are 8 tips that we use in order to manifest, grow and heal.

1. Letting go

One of reasons why you would journal the way I see it is to help you let go. There is a way of doing this so you don’t end up keeping that energy trapped in your words. In the past when I have read diary extracts from your younger years I have cringed as it was a literal step back in time. This is a good example of not letting go. Language is very important and the way you write it down in a communication for the future and how you want this cycle to end in some way. Asking for divine guidance and allowing words to flow through you or being open to being guided is something I encourage so you can get your own answers to your problems. This is without putting too much energy into thinking but energy into trusting, surrendering which I believe is really important to letting go.

2. Intentions

Your intentions are one of the most important starting point when creating a desired outcome. It gives you direction and awareness to where you are and where you want to go as well as what is potentially stopping you. It will result in appropriate action and direction.

3. Vision and goals

Having somewhere to develop your vision and goals is important this will keep you accountable to what you want and what you want to create. If you don’t have a tangible goal or vision, it makes creation very difficult. You want to make sure the energy you are putting into your life is giving you what you want.

4. Tracking the moon

Full moon for letting go and new moon for setting intentions are a great way to move forward with intention monthly. Ultimately you are consciously using the energies to move forward, expect to experience regular shifts in your growth. Personally I utilise them regularly as my growth is such a huge priority. It keeps me grounded and focused otherwise I get distracted and stay stuck.

5. Affirmations journal

Affirmations are great way of feeling into the energy of how you really feel and make you see your belief system. Statements like ‘I love myself’, can trigger deep emotional responses where the sense of not loving oneself can be really obvious. To others, I have witnessed individuals saying it with no real love behind it, and they don’t even realise it.

6. Personal development

If you want to consciously dive in and challenge yourself then reflecting on questions about your past, belief systems, health and emotional responses are something you should do regularly for growth. Awareness in these areas allows for personal growth, and if we don’t shine a light, we will never know. In the School of Change Journal we have questions all related to the chakra system as well as different techniques in which you can work to clear these energetic blocks that you can use to whatever resonates with you.

7. Divine guidance

In order to get unstuck we need to learn how to surrender and let go. Letting go of all the attachments to outcomes and overthinking only then leaves space to allow for guidance, especially divine guidance. Answers that you would never be able to think of in a million years with a racing mind. Divine guidance can come to you as a thought out of nowhere, triggered by something completely random or literally pop in to say hello. The way to do this is to really ask the question, to ask for help and wait. Be patient for the answer because it will come when you least expect it.

8. Daily practice

Writing a journal is a practice that needs to be done daily. Being aware of your energy to be conscious, grounding, centering yourself so your intention for the day or outcome is how you desire. Everything you do must be intentional to keep you on track. This is why in our journal is about accountability and tapping into your divine energy to help you manifest your day to how you want it to become.

If these ways resonate take a look at our School of Change Journal which encompasses all these areas to keep you on track, aligned and focused. See here.
