A second spring of life is a wonderful concept and it's possible to breeze through with the support and accountability of health coaching. In this article, I will share with you the power of health coaching and how to take control of menopause and embrace the second spring of life.

For women who are 40 years old and above, the topic of menopause is of great importance. Unfortunately, there is no shortage of uninvited opinions on the matter from a relative offering unsolicited advice at a family gathering to a neighbour who is quick to share their own experiences from "back in the day". It's natural to feel overwhelmed, uneasy, and even dismissed as a result.


Blaming ourselves


Women sometimes connect their symptoms with menopause and assume it is the source of their difficulties. Let's take back control of menopause. Society has always held women responsible for various issues throughout history, and this has caused us to internalize these beliefs. It is vital to reflect on this and recognize that every woman is unique. Although we all go through menopause at some point, there is much more to it than that.


Menopause is often viewed as an inevitable and negative phase in the life of a woman. However, there's a different perspective that's worth considering. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, menopause is seen as a second spring, and we can embrace our second spring of life. It's believed that women's bodies follow seven-year life cycles. This means that we can prepare for menopause, which is just a moment in time. What we do before and after this phase can help support this transition and the years that are considered the rebirth in other cultures. Embracing menopause could be transformative for us and the community.


The importance of taking a moment to reflect on this stage of our lives

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a popular choice for alleviating symptoms of perimenopause. However, it's important to take this time to consider and investigate additional options.


In our society, women frequently feel an obligation to hide their challenging emotions and focus solely on achieving happiness. However, happiness is a fleeting feeling, and it's crucial to acknowledge and come to terms with our emotions. This is necessary to maintain our emotional well-being and strengthen our ability to face difficulties that may arise. By doing so, we can be better prepared to embrace new opportunities and beginnings when the time is right.


What options do women have to regain control?


Health and wellness coaching can provide effective support for women facing the challenges of menopause and embrace our second spring of life. It helps in reframing our perception of the difficulties of life, accepting changes, and letting go of struggles. The health coaching aims to develop a mindset of kindness and self-compassion towards us while approaching this phase of life. Instead of being overly critical, we are encouraged to approach this stage with curiosity, which helps us cultivate a better understanding and acceptance of ourselves, leading to better overall health and well-being. Health and wellness coaching empowers us to explore and navigate the changes more constructively, resulting in greater peace and acceptance while going through menopause.

Remember, there are no right or wrong answers when it comes to setting goals. It's important, to be honest with yourself and accept that you are in the perfect place to continue growing. Now is the time to unpause and flow into this exciting new phase of your life!
