  • Journey From IT Management To Fitness – Exclusive Interview With Vanessa Werner

In the narrative of the transition from IT management to the domain of fitness and nutrition coaching, Vanessa's journey unfolds as a testament to the transformative potential inherent in the pursuit of personal passions. Gifted with an unwavering belief in the realization of heartfelt aspirations, Vanessa's story traces back to early childhood. At the age of 5, a request to acquire a horse was expressed to her father, who wisely suggested obtaining one when the ability to afford it was attained. Thus, the journey into financial independence commenced at an early age, culminating in the purchase of the first horse at the age of 12. In the course of her corporate career, she came to the realization that successful women frequently encounter distinctive challenges when striving to strike a balance amidst the demands of a high-powered profession. Armed with a background in IT management, she honed strategic thinking, time management, and leadership skills. The amalgamation of her corporate experience and a steadfast dedication to holistic well-being now serves as the foundation for assisting ambitious women in achieving success on their fitness journeys. Recognizing the need for a customized approach that seamlessly integrates with their hectic schedules and aligns with their broader life objectives, she leverages her expertise to provide practical, results-oriented strategies for these women. Vanessa Werner, Personal Coach Vanessa, how do you empower women to balance careers and well-being through your "Feel Your Power" approach? "Feel Your Power" is all about enabling women to utilize their bodies as powerful assets. I focus on personalized fitness and nutrition solutions that seamlessly fit into their daily lives, crafting strategies aligned with career demands to optimize time and energy. For instance, Nora, one of my clients, who was used to prioritizing her duties as senior manager over her personal well-being, found motivation through fitness training. My holistic approach in "Feel Your Power" convinced her to participate, aiming for increased fitness, energy, and a true work-life balance. She was surprised to see that with only minimal additional net time investment she could even overachieve her well-being goals. “This is possible because Vanessa’s program itself and the new tailor-made habits I adopted are both extremely efficient and fully aligned with my professional and personal routines.” You've emphasized work-life balance and fitness for ambitious women. Can you provide practical strategies? Let me share another example: Sabine, an IT consultant, was previously stressed out by finding some time in the evening trying to make up for her lack of movement throughout the day. With my strategies she found a way to integrate regular mild physical exercise like stretching into her office day. She even started to put her laptop onto a pile of books to create a standing desk and incorporate some additional steps by walking in place during online meetings. This way she never has a bad conscience and starts her evenings feeling relaxed. As a woman in leadership, how do you exemplify a positive role model, and what lessons can others learn from your journey? I openly showcase that achieving a balance between career success and personal well-being is possible through tailored strategies and consistent effort. Encouraging authenticity and adapting work setups to support unique talents is crucial, whether under the umbrella of New Work or Self-Leadership. For instance, in my earlier managerial years, I hesitated to openly display breaks or exercise habits, fearing it might be perceived as weakness. However, I learned that openly sharing such decisions sets healthy boundaries for the team, making it easier for them to take care of their physical and mental well-being. Don't be afraid to stand out; you're already a role model demonstrating how to lead a happy, healthy, and successful life! How do women, embracing your holistic fitness and nutrition approach contribute to a healthier, more empowered community? My approach brings inspiring transformations to women, fostering collective well-being and empowerment. Clients experience increased energy, improved health, and newfound empowerment, like a busy executive maintaining productivity through self-care. These transformations contribute to a healthier, empowered community, inspiring others. I am always touched by Miriam’s journey. Due to PCO syndrome she not only suffered from nasty symptoms like facial hair, but she was even fearing that she would not be able to have children. Miriam started with our Easy Eating method and then incorporated more and more fitness training and other healthy habits. She regained her positive attitude and happiness. Still during the Feel Your Power program she became pregnant. After the “baby break” we started training together again. Imagine how wonderful it is to see her son running around as we do the exercises. He experiences his mother as a balanced, fit woman. He is used to a healthy, relaxed nutrition. No dieting, no body shaming, no constant stress levels. What a good start into a healthy and happy life and maybe habits which he will adopt and even pass on to his children. And that’s my drive: to improve ambitious women’s lives and help them to achieve their desired outcomes. But it not only has individual benefits for each woman, it also strengthens overall purpose-driven leaders. I want as many ambitious women as possible to experience the extraordinary, transformative potential of "Feel Your Power“. And above all, I also want us as a community to continue growing. What are your top three tips for achieving a balance between career success and personal well-being? 1. Prioritize self-care: Allocate time for self-care activities that rejuvenate your mind and body. This could include exercise, meditation, or simply taking a break to relax. Make it a habit to increase the number of breaks the busier you are. And remember small steps do count! A daily routine has a bigger and more sustainable effect than a yearly vacation break. 2. Delegate and collaborate: Don't hesitate to delegate tasks at work and collaborate with others. This holds true at home as well! You can share the load with family members or service providers. 3. Manage your energy instead of your time: While owning your schedule is a non-negotiable basic, it is even more important to get rid of any activities which decrease your energy level and learn how to re-generate energy. Hint: you can use your body as a beautiful powerhouse. Most likely your journey to a fitter and more balanced version of yourself will not happen overnight. So, take time for regular reflection on your goals, values, and overall well-being. Adjust your approach as needed. Remember, finding the right balance is a continuous process that may require adjustments based on changing circumstances and priorities. And never forget to celebrate even small successes. Women who would like to exchange and reflect on how to lead a fitter, healthier and more balanced life are invited to apply for a Feel Your Power strategy call with Vanessa Werner. • The Double-Edged Sword Of Personal Branding – Balancing Storytelling And Ego

Written by Divyanshu Oberoi, Storyteller Divyanshu Oberoi, your storyteller and the creative force behind Kahaaneeya. From Diagon Alley to Narnia, He brings a spellbinding blend of creativity, strategy, and passion to the table. He has not only grown accounts from scratch but has also keenly observed the transformative power of storytelling in captivating audiences. Building a personal brand has become an indispensable tool for professionals looking to carve out their niche, establish authority, and stand out in a crowded marketplace. However valuable personal branding might seem, it isn't without its complexities and challenges. At its core is the balance between authentic expression via storytelling and ego – two interrelated aspects that can either enhance or diminish one's personal brand, much like the two sides of a coin. Storytelling, when done right, is a powerful means of connecting with an audience on a human level. It helps individuals to share their experiences, values, and vision in a compelling and relatable way. A well-crafted personal narrative can create an emotional resonance that fosters trust, loyalty, and engagement. By weaving together the threads of their journey, achievements, and setbacks, individuals can paint a vivid picture of who they are and what they stand for. However, storytelling can easily veer into self-aggrandizement if not tempered by humility and authenticity. The temptation to embellish or exaggerate accomplishments, inflate one's expertise, or present a curated version of oneself can erode trust and credibility. In an age of transparency and authenticity, audiences are quick to discern the difference between genuine storytelling and self-promotional rhetoric. On the flip side, ego – the sense of self-importance and pride – plays a pivotal role in personal branding. A healthy dose of confidence and self-assuredness is essential for projecting authority, commanding attention, and seizing opportunities. It fuels ambition, drives innovation, and propels individuals to push beyond their comfort zones. Embracing one's unique talents, perspectives, and aspirations is central to building a distinctive personal brand that resonates with the target audience. In Ryan Holiday's book "Ego is the Enemy," he points out “in a world that tells us to keep and promote a 'personal brand,' we're required to tell stories in order to sell our work and our talents, and after enough time, forget where the line is that separates our fictions from reality." Our personal brand can become like a mask, hiding our insecurities and flaws behind a facade of success. We get so good at telling our story in a way that makes us look good, that we forget to show our real selves. We become trapped by the image we've created, losing touch with our authentic identity. Consider Oprah Winfrey, a beacon of authenticity in the media industry. From humble beginnings, Winfrey rose to prominence through her talk show, where she shared her personal journey of overcoming adversity. Her transparency and vulnerability resonated deeply with audiences, creating a powerful bond built on trust and authenticity. Winfrey's personal brand is a testament to the enduring power of genuine storytelling, where authenticity serves as the cornerstone of connection. On the other end of the spectrum, we find the personal brand of Donald Trump, characterized by flamboyance and self-promotion. As a real estate mogul and later as President of the United States, Trump cultivated an image of wealth and success through bold claims and extravagant displays. However, his brand often appeared marred by ego- driven rhetoric and controversy, highlighting the risks of prioritizing self-aggrandizement over authenticity. Trump's example serves as a cautionary tale, illustrating the pitfalls of ego-driven personal branding and the importance of humility in fostering genuine connections. Take Elon Musk, Love him or hate him, you can't deny his audacity. He's like the ultimate superhero, taking on the world's biggest challenges with unwavering confidence. But here's where he stumbled: ego unchecked. From Twitter wars to overpromising and underdelivering, he learned the hard way that humility goes a long way. So, how can individuals navigate the double-edged sword of personal branding with finesse and integrity? First and foremost, authenticity should serve as the cornerstone of personal branding efforts. Embrace your true self – flaws, vulnerabilities, and all – and let your authentic voice shine through. Share stories that resonate with your values, passions, and experiences, even if they include moments of failure or uncertainty. Authenticity fosters genuine connections and builds trust, laying a solid foundation for a compelling personal brand. Secondly, humility must temper ambition. Acknowledge the contributions of others, express gratitude for support and mentorship, and remain open to feedback and constructive criticism. Humility not only endears you to your audience but also keeps ego in check, ensuring that personal branding efforts remain grounded in reality rather than inflated perceptions of self-importance. Thirdly, focus on adding value rather than seeking validation. Shift the spotlight from yourself to your audience – listen to their needs, address their pain points, and offer solutions that enrich their lives. By demonstrating empathy, generosity, and a genuine desire to serve, you'll naturally attract followers who resonate with your message and mission. Lastly, cultivate self-awareness and mindfulness. Regularly reflect on your motives, intentions, and actions, and course-correct whenever ego threatens to overshadow authenticity. Stay attuned to the impact of your personal brand on others and be willing to adapt and evolve as circumstances change. At Kahaaneeya, we understand the power of storytelling to shape personal brands and elevate them above the noise of the digital landscape. But we also recognize the importance of authenticity and humility in forging genuine connections with audiences. That's why our mission is not just to help brands tell their stories, but to uncover the truths that lie at the heart of those stories – the truths that resonate with audiences on a deeper, more meaningful level. Through our comprehensive suite of services – including brand strategy, market research, design, and digital marketing – we help brands navigate the complexities of personal branding with integrity and authenticity. We believe that every brand has a unique story to tell, and our mission is to uncover and share that story with their target audience in a way that fosters genuine connection and engagement. So if you're ready to take your personal brand to the next level – to move beyond the masks and facades that obscure your true self – we invite you to join us on this journey of discovery. Together, we'll uncover the authentic story at the heart of your brand and share it with the world in a way that resonates, inspires, and endures. • What Is Anxiety And 3 Mental Hacks To Decrease It

Written by Annie Chen, Behavior Therapy Coach Annie Chen is a certified behavior analyst and a trauma breath coach. She is the founder of Behavior Roots, a service that offers 1:1 coaching and training as well as group workshops by guiding those she serves through applying therapeutic tools that can be applied in everyday life, simplified to a person's capacity and needs. Her services offer a holistic, compassionate, and trauma-informed approach to ensure long-term healing and change. All levels of anxiety can impact our health emotionally, physically, and mentally. When we worry, ruminate, or stress, it impacts the quality of our personal life and relationships. In this article, we will review the true power of harnessing our anxiety based on current research by specifically redefining our emotions through a compassionate-led lens. What is anxiety? Anxiety is a fear-based reaction stemming from a series of traumatic events or stress-related events that have occurred in a person’s life. More specifically, it is a fear of an unwanted future or an unwanted past, therefore has a lot to do with an attempt to regain control of a situation or person in the present moment situation. It is the product of a specific combination of emotions (such as shame and fear) that were not processed in the way they should have been at the time of the stressful event. As a result, anxiety becomes a form of self-protection and a coping skill. How do I know I’m experiencing anxiety? Anxiety can show up in our thoughts, behaviors, emotions, and bodies. See how it can show up below: *It is important to note that anxiety is not exclusive to only these symptoms How do I know when I need to address anxiety? If you have ever experienced any of the symptoms above at any point, it is helpful to address them right away. Just like brushing our teeth to prevent cavities, we want to take preventative measures before it gets worse. When anxiety begins impacting your ability to maintain healthy relationships, build relationships, or create a consistent decrease in life satisfaction, this is a red flag to take note of. When we delay addressing our anxiety symptoms for too long, this can lead to disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, chronic pain, and eventually even autoimmune disorders. Seek out professional help from a therapist, a behavior coach, or practice consistent self-compassion. To practice self-compassion, try these 3 easy mental hacks I recommend based on the principles of acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), a compassion-focused modality of behavior therapy. 3 mental hacks for anxiety 1. Lean in Have you ever used a finger trap? If not, I recommend you to try it! A finger trap is a simple puzzle contraption that traps a person’s two fingers inside the woven bamboo piece when placed inside on both ends. Instinctually, we often think to get out of a finger trap we need to pull our fingers out, in which case our fingers get stuck. The trick to getting your fingers out is to lean in and push your fingers toward one another. Similarly, with our emotions, we want to lean in instead of moving away from the emotion. Leaning in is the acceptance and willingness to acknowledge the emotion is there, but it doesn’t mean you have to like the emotion. Acknowledge it by thinking about it, writing it down, or sharing it out loud with a friend. The more we avoid the emotion by distracting ourselves (with Netflix or phone scrolling) the more we get trapped in our fear and anxiety. 2. Alter ego Think of the characters Jekyll & Hyde from the 1880’s novel or Hulk from the Marvel comic series. Both characters have two alter egos. Dr. Jekyll is a kind scientist who can become Mr. Hyde, an evil villain who avoids responsibility and commits crimes. Bruce Banner is a kind doctor who can become Hulk, an uncontrollable monster driven by rage. Dr. Jekyll and Bruce both need to acknowledge and accept that both alter egos are part of their identity, and ultimately their true desire is the ability to control both identities. Similarly to our emotions, it is important to understand that our emotions are a part of what makes us human and they come out for a reason. They are often feedback that there is something we are neglecting in our health. However, when we get consumed by our emotions, then our emotions begin to become the driver of our thoughts and actions and we become the passenger (like Hulk’s rage or Mr. Hyde). Learn to distance yourself from your emotions by giving them an ‘alter ego’. Give it a name and make it an entity. For example, “Negative Nancy is talking again” or “Anxious Abby is at it again”. If you aren’t comfortable with trying this, you can also use the statement “My brain is telling me I’m worthless again”, and try speaking to that entity like you would to a friend in need. Practice this either in your self-talk or when talking with a safe friend or partner. 3. BYOD (Be Your Own Detective) What makes a detective good at their job? Before a detective successfully solves a case, they observe, look at the clues, analyze, and approach with curiosity. We can also be a detective with our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physical symptoms. Simply noticing and observing how you feel or what physical symptoms come up (even in the next 2-3 days after) when you experience anxiety can give you helpful feedback. That feedback can help you understand what necessary boundaries need to be set and provide you direction with your future choices. Challenge and question your thoughts and emotions with curiosity: “Is that statement true?”, “Will I feel the same intensity of this emotion in 3 days?”, “What is my anxiety telling me about my needs?” or, “I notice my chest feels tight whenever I see a deadline”. What does current research say about ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy)? Applying ACT to yourself can be a helpful self-help method for reducing anxiety even without therapy ACT is potentially more effective than other modalities of therapy for decreasing depression ACT helps optimize quality of life by increasing mental, physical, emotional, and social health ACT has been proven to significantly decrease clinical levels of anxiety in adolescent For additional tips on dealing with anxiety click here for a free resource. She is a strong believer that to permanently and successfully help an individual grow and heal, you need to address the root causes. Just like a plant, if the roots are not healthy, it doesn't matter how much you water it or offer it sunlight, it won't be able to grow and flourish.

She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), with a master's in Education in Curriculum and Instruction Applied Behavior Analysis, and a bachelor's in psychology. Annie started her career working with neurodivergent children utilizing applied behavior analysis (ABA). She fell in love with it because of the fast and enormous progress she saw with children and their families. However, after working in the health care and clinical field for 8 years, her eyes were open to the many limitations where quality of services could be offered. She realized she needed to address a deeper concern to help children and neurodivergent individuals truly, and that was coaching adults without the restraints of a medical model. She experiences daily a world where healthy coping skills are rarely taught to us; how to build healthy relationships (including those with our children and our partners) was never modeled. She realized to help build a better future by raising healthy children, we needed healthy adults to raise them first. Annie has spent her last 2 years building her company to incorporate trauma-informed training as well as nervous system regulation, mindfulness, and breathwork in her services, integrating various components of holistic treatment. She enjoys advocating awareness of the causes of our everyday symptoms and has almost a decade of experience in the therapeutic field and working with neurodivergent individuals. She has unique experience applying ABA in the foster care system, leading inclusive-focused ABA services for preschools and teachers, crisis prevention, and working with a multicultural audience. She has done staff training of 50+ as well as remote group parent training in Tanzania, Africa. Through her journey, she has experienced firsthand how the strategies of behavior science and mindfulness greatly impact the lives of many within the scope of trauma, anxiety, and PTSD, as well as her own.
