Lucie Petrelis is a certified life coach supporting individuals with ADHD and MS to redesign their life in a way that makes sense to them, and that is based on their needs. At 22, she temporarily lost her ability to walk and was suddenly diagnosed with MS, forcing her to rethink her life’s perspective and priorities. Twenty years later, her diagnosis of ADHD gave her the gift of finally understanding the root of so many of her challenges. Using the power of her stamina, positivity, and proven methodologies, she inspires and drives others to take their life into their own hands, re-structure it, re-prioritize it, add a lot of joy in it, and above all be proud of who they are. Her motto: Your challenges are valid.

Lucie Petrelis, Life Coach for ADHD & MS

As a life coach supporting individuals with MS and ADHD, you bring a unique perspective and deep understanding to your practice. What inspired you to work with people facing these conditions?

My personal journey with MS and ADHD has been the driving force behind my passion for helping others facing similar challenges. Being diagnosed with MS at the age of 22 was a pivotal moment in my life. It forced me to reevaluate everything, learn again who I was and adapt to a new reality. Along the way, I realized the immense power I had to minimize MS symptoms and overcome the barriers that came with it.

Despite the progress I made, I continued to struggle with executive functioning challenges due to undiagnosed ADHD. It wasn't until I reached my forties that I discovered this missing piece of the puzzle. This revelation allowed me to understand the coping mechanisms I had developed over the years and the tremendous energy I had expended to navigate a neurotypical world.

Having personally experienced the impact of these conditions, I have sharpened my strategies to a high level and now use them to support my clients. Each person's journey is unique, and as a coach, I think outside the box to help them fulfill their dreams and find happiness in their own way.

How do you integrate your personal experiences with MS and ADHD into your coaching approach?

Living with MS and ADHD has given me firsthand knowledge of the strengths and struggles associated with these conditions. This allows me to deeply empathize with my clients and tailor my coaching to their specific needs. I offer a holistic perspective that combines practical strategies, emotional support, and empowerment, all aimed at helping them unlock their full potential.

What are the main challenges of your clients, and how did your coaching contribute to their progress?

My clients' main challenges revolve around feeling overwhelmed by the daily struggles of living with MS and ADHD. These conditions can often be invisible to others, leading to a lack of understanding and validation. Individuals with MS and ADHD often find themselves in a non-ending battle to prove their challenges to those around them, resulting in a significant loss of physical, mental, and emotional energy.

In our coaching sessions, we work together to develop strategies to effectively manage their time and energy, transform task prioritization, and establish supportive routines tailored to their unique needs. We also focus on building self-confidence and self-compassion, helping them express their needs to themselves and others in their environment. Witnessing their growth and resilience is truly rewarding as they gain clarity, increase mental and physical strength and inner calmness, improve focus, and achieve significant milestones in various aspects of their lives.

What tools or resources do you provide your clients with MS and ADHD to help them overcome obstacles and improve their overall well-being?

I provide my clients with a range of tailored tools and resources to address their specific needs. This includes practical techniques for time management, organization, and self-care. I also offer guidance on stress reduction, mindfulness practices, and strategies to enhance focus and productivity. Empowering my clients with the knowledge and skills they need to navigate their challenges effectively is crucial.

Additionally, I focus on supporting them to appreciate every aspect of who they are, compassionately transforming any harmful and toxic narratives, and fostering good health through small but significant daily behaviors.

How do you ensure a collaborative and supportive relationship with your clients, encouraging their growth and personal development?

Authenticity and trust form the foundation of my coaching relationships. I create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can express themselves openly and be their true selves. Together, we establish goals and make realistic plans aligned with their aspirations and needs. Regular check-ins and open communication allow us to celebrate progress and address any obstacles that arise. I approach setbacks as opportunities for learning and growth, encouraging my clients to embrace their unique journey and unlock their full potential in their own timeline and way.

Lastly, what would you like potential clients with MS and ADHD to know about the transformative power of coaching?

I would like them to know the profound transformation that coaching can catalyze. Through coaching, they can gain clarity, develop practical skills, cultivate a positive mindset, and truly understand themselves and what brings them joy so they can implement all that in their daily life. It's about embracing their unique strengths, overcoming challenges, and creating a life aligned with their values, dreams, and visions. With proper support and guidance, they can thrive and achieve their goals in a faster and more sustainable way, embracing their journey with confidence and resilience while feeling proud of themselves and their unique story.
