Ensuring a positive mindset.

I have found over the years that your mood, your health and your ability to live a happy life are all down to having the right mindset and ensuring you alter it if it goes off balance.

The definition of mindset is:

Your mindset is a set of beliefs that shape how you make sense of the world and yourself. It influences how you think, feel, and behave in any given situation.

In 2010 when my life was thrown into turmoil, my mind shut down. I functioned very basically and from the outside looking in, I looked and acted pretty standard. However, I knew that I wasn't right I was putting on a brave face. I would cry at the slightest thing. I was continually being poorly and going to the doctors with different symptoms. It cost me a fortune when I look back at all the different tablets I took. I didn't enjoy my life. I didn't see a future. I was very closed, and I didn't discuss anything with anyone.

When I look back, I would never want anyone to feel like I did, and I want to help as many people work out how they can help themselves as possible.

Over the years, I have worked out how to keep a positive mind no matter what is happening. I do this by always looking for a positive in each situation. I know this can sound quite difficult, but there is always something positive to come out of most cases if you look hard. Examples of this can be:

Relationships: when these break up, it's time for you to focus on doing all the things you had put off and enjoy time with friends and loved ones. Go out when you want to, eat when you want to. Don't feel down. There is always someone out there for you when you are ready. If it were meant to be, it would have continued.

Death: This is a difficult one, and it depends on the age of the person you lose. If the person is elderly, if they have suffered, it is better for them so that they won't suffer any longer. When the death is unexpected, this is entirely different, and I think this takes time, but I do still believe you have to be positive because you may have lost someone extremely close to you, but if you keep living your best life, then at least there is only one soul lost not two. It would be terrible for that person's life to have been wasted.

Job loss: Yes, this can be initially scary but think you have got a job before you can do it again. It may not be the one you want initially but never give up the correct position. You won't portray a positive outlook when interviewing if you don't stay positive.

There is more that I could add, but at the end of the day, it's up to you to look for the positive things. Each morning start your day afresh. Get up early and go for a lovely walk. Fresh air can awaken your soul and set you up for the day. Eating a healthy meal keeps the mind fresh and active too. I believe entirely in journaling. Journaling is an excellent way to take all your negativity out of your head.

When things are in black and white for you to read, they tend to be easier to take in and break down so that the things you thought you couldn't cope with become manageable, and you can see things clearer. Taking time to meditate is also a way to clear your mind and relax. Take at least ten minutes per day when you have quiet time. You can listen to peaceful, calming music or sit in the quiet and say affirmations. Also, it would be an ideal time to practise self-hypnosis. If this is something you would like to do, please drop me an email, and I will send you my PDF on how to do this. Or you can book a relaxation hypnosis session via my website. Finally, another task I do is to make a vision board. A vision board gives a clear vision of what you want in your life, and it gives you daily focus on what you want from life which should then give you focus on your daily tasks so that you eventually achieve everything on the vision board. You can do it month by month or a year. It all depends on where you are in your life.

Your mind and subconscious depict how you act to everything. Remember, it's only you who can determine how you react.
